PSC Comments on AUKUS-related ITAR Interim Final Rule

On November 18, 2024, PSC submitted comments on a State Department interim final rule, "ITAR: Exemption for Defense Trade and Cooperation Among Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States" (DOS-2024-0024). Effective September 1, 2024, this rule amends the ITAR to facilitate the export and transfer of defense goods and services within the AUKUS context. PSC comments underscored the need (1) to minimize the list of technologies excluded from this amendment and (2) to focus more attention on defense services and solutions, not just products.
