PSC Provides Comments on Draft NIST AI Technical and Policy Documents

On April 29, 2024, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) published four draft
AI technical and policy documents
as part of NIST’s response to the October 2023 “Executive Order on the Safe, Secure, and Trustworthy Development and Use of Artificial Intelligence” (
E.O. 14110
). Of those four, PSC provided comments on two draft publications.
NIST AI 100-5, A Plan for Global Engagement on AI Standards
:
Submitted on May 31, 2024, PSC’s overarching observations and recommendations focused on
(1)
U.S. leadership in global AI standards development and implementation;
(2)
leveraging trade associations in AI standards development and implementation;
(3)
sector-specific global AI standards; and
(4)
prioritization of incident response and recovery plans. Click

NIST AI 600- 1, Artificial Intelligence Risk Management Framework: Generative Artificial Intelligence Profile
:
Submitted on May 29, 2024, PSC’s overarching observations and recommendations focused on
(1)
inclusion of novel keywords in the glossary and
(2)
alignment of AI RMF 1.0 and final NIST AI 600-1 with OMB M-24-10. Click
