NVC and PSC Celebrate Excellence with Awardees and Honorees at the 2024 Greater Washington Government Contractor Awards®

Winners Were Announced at the 22nd Annual GovCon Awards Gala on November 6th

 

Tyson's Corner, Va. (November 7, 2024) -- Last night, NVC and the Professional Services Council (PSC) named Mac Curtis the 2024 LaFleur-Chason Hall of Fame Honoree and Karla Smith Jackson this year’s Public Sector Partner during the remarkable 22nd Annual Greater Washington Government Contractor Awards® (GovCon Awards). Recognized as the premier awards event for the Washington area’s government contracting community, the GovCon Awards also celebrated seven outstanding winners in both the Contractor of the Year and Executive of the Year categories.

Mac Curtis is the Chairperson of the Board for Cubic Corporation, with over 35 years ingovernment contracting. He has successfully led over 25 acquisitions totaling more than $8.5 billion. Mac is committed to veteran service, serving on boards such as the Virginia Commercial Space Flight Authority. He has received several accolades, including the GovCon Awards’ Executive of the Year in 2019 and Company of the Year in 2011.

Karla Smith Jackson is the Senior Procurement Executive at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). With 30 years of federal service, she shapes U.S. acquisition policy and strategy. A leader in the field, she serves on the National Contract Management Association (NCMA) Board and the Federal Acquisition Regulation Council and has received numerous awards, including the Presidential Rank Award and multiple Secretary of Defense medals.

The GovCon Awards aim to recognize the outstanding contributions of leaders and businesses within the region's government contracting sector. Award categories include Contractor of the Year, presented in four revenue brackets, and Executive of the Year, awarded in three revenue tiers. These honors celebrate the excellence and innovation that drive the industry forward.

Veterans Moving Forward was named the GovCon Awards’ 2024 Charity Partner. Veterans Moving Forward is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing service dogs and caninetherapy services to veterans facing physical and mental health challenges at no cost. They serve veterans of all generations who have honorably served and are dealing with challenges resulting from military operations, accidents, or illnesses related to their service.
