HR & Labor Policy Committee Meeting

GUEST SPEAKERS

Dr. Matt Shank
President of Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges (VFIC)

Mr. Mac Curtis
VFIC Trustee

MEETING DESCRIPTION
Workforce issues – including though not limited to recruitment, training, and retention – are invariably among the top concerns of PSC member companies. Please join the PSC HR & Labor Policy Committee for an engaging workforce discussion with Dr. Matt Shank, President of Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges (VFIC) and Mr. Mac Curtis, VFIC Trustee, on Wednesday, March 29, 11:00am-12:00pm. This meeting will be hybrid, held both in-person at PSC and virtually.

The principal discussion topic will be how to develop and maintain a sustainable talent pipeline to support government services companies in the National Capital Region and beyond. The goal is to identify and explore key elements of potential recruitment programs that “tap into” Virginia private colleges and universities. Discussion questions include: What entry-level skills and capabilities are most sought by PSC member companies? Which programs are already underway, and what lessons have been learned from those programs? For current college students, what would intern or apprentice opportunities look like at your company? How can PSC member companies best support efforts to develop and maintain sources of talent within local colleges? With the mission of advancing values and strengths of 16 independent Virginia member colleges and universities, VFIC officials aim to support capable, diverse, and well-educated students who are interested in exploring options in technology and professional services. Learn more about VFIC here.
