PSC’s Council of International Development Companies Releases “Agendas for the New Administration” |
Arlington, Va. (June 24, 2021) PSC’s Council of International Development Companies (CIDC) – member companies who work primarily with the Department of State and USAID – issued its “Agendas for the New Administration” compendium today. The document examines key issues that will prove vital to advancing the Biden-Harris administration’s foreign assistance policy framework. Agenda items were authored by each of the 10 member companies comprising CIDC’s Executive Advisory Board.
Key agenda items raised were:
• Recognition that many of the programmatic and structural innovations established by former USAID Administrator Mark Green deserve to be retained.
• The important role that Diversity, Equity and Inclusion play in the formulation and conduct of foreign assistance programs.
• The value of robust Monitoring & Evaluation for effective foreign policy implementation.
• When and why contracts are the appropriate foreign assistance mechanisms.
PSC President & CEO David Berteau noted that, “American contractors have stepped in wherever and whenever Washington officials determined there was a need. The fact of the matter is the federal government could not function without the hundreds of thousands of contractors who provide a vast array of professional services from facilities maintenance to satellite design to international development and foreign assistance implementation.”
“CIDC has been at the forefront of advocating on behalf of development and putting forth constructive and intelligent ideas of how to make development more effective, sustainable and accountable on behalf of USAID’s program beneficiaries,” said Leland Kruvant, President of Creative Associates and CIDC Chair. “Together, we are committed to the global mission of eradicating poverty and suffering, improving governance and transitioning communities from conflict to peace.”
“The CIDC’s Executive Advisory Board reflects the diversity of the American contractor community, with representatives from large companies, Small Businesses and Mid-Tier firms. Each brings valuable insights from both a programmatic implementation, as well as a private sector perspective,” said Paul Foldi, PSC’s Vice President for International Affairs. “We look forward to building off these themes as CIDC engages further with the Biden-Harris Administration.”
